About Us
The Muslim Community in Curaçao
There are approximately 1,500 Muslims living in Curaçao, most of whom are of Lebanese and Syrian descent, with other Arab and non-Arab nationalities represented. Many are involved in trade and small business.
Our History
-
Islamic presence in Curaçao dates back more than a century, linked to migration due to the decline of the Ottoman Empire.
-
In 1963, the community purchased a 3,000 m² property (formerly a Vatican monk's house), converting it into a prayer and gathering space.
-
In 1964, the Islamic Association of Curaçao was officially founded — the first in the Caribbean and the second in Latin America.

Mission
To preserve and strengthen the Islamic identity of the Muslim community in Curaçao by providing a welcoming place of worship, delivering educational and social services, engaging in dawah activities, and building sustainable projects that ensure the long-term support and growth of Islam on the island.
Vision
To expand the awareness of Islam and deliver the true beauty of the Islamic faith — by nurturing an inclusive, knowledgeable, and spiritually connected Muslim community in Curaçao, and by actively engaging with society through education, compassion, and meaningful outreach.
